Welcome to the 3K and 4K classroom! This is a place of fun, exciting play and learning. We start each day learning about our Lord and Savior. We do fun activities such as biblical crafts, acting out the story, using flannel boards to re-tell the story and playing bible games.
Our classroom continues each day with Music where we learn both secular and religious songs. Within the school year, we learn 3-4 hymns or religious songs that we sing at church. It is a joy to see a child singing to his or her Lord!
We read several books and learn to read some words by the end of 4K. At 3K we concentrate on the uppercase letters. In 4K we review the uppercase letters, learn the lowercase letters and all the sounds. We also work on penmanship the second half of the year in 4K.
Science experiments that tell us about God’s creation are also a part of our classroom. We may mix colored water together, see what kinds of objects float or even grow plants in the classroom!
We learn about Social Studies as we learn about the neighborhood around us. We go to one field trip a month, usually within Mequon or Thiensville. Parents are needed to help us transport the children to the various locations.
Recess and gym also play a part in the children’s development here at Calvary. Games such as “Duck, Duck, Goose” and “Red Light, Green Light” are taught. We also work on such skills as skipping, hopping and summersaults.
Arts and Crafts time is a favorite around here. We paint, play with play dough, cut paper, glue objects and just get messy and have fun.
