Welcome to our kindergarten classroom!
When you step into our room, you will find a joyful and busy Christian environment that focuses on a multi-sensory approach to learning.
At the heart of our curriculum is daily study of God’s Word. From the creation of the world to the empty tomb of Jesus, the children hear how much they are loved by God and that they are his dear children now and in eternity.
Reading is one of our core subjects and is a major emphasis. Through daily letter and phonics study, sight word practice and shared reading, the children quickly grow in their reading skills. Our reading lessons include learning through song and movement, large muscle activities, flashlight games, small group instruction, “letter treasures” and activity books.
Our math program makes use of a large variety of hands-on activities. The children explore and practice math concepts through daily calendar work, use of pattern blocks, toy clocks, coins, linking cubes, dominoes, geo-boards, and many other items. The children also enjoy practicing their math skills through songs such as “Countdown to Blastoff”, “Count by 10’s” and “Match My Clock.”
The children are given the opportunity to learn about God’s world and the people in it through their social studies and science lessons. For example, this past year they learned about apples and toured an apple orchard, studied about their senses and took a “Senses Tour” at a nearby nature center, watched caterpillars change into butterflies, grew plants from seeds, visited a urban kindergarten class in Milwaukee (and also hosted them as guests at our school), toured the local police station, explored spiders and penguins, and learned about early native Americans and the pilgrims.
Our classroom is always open to visitors. You are welcome to come by and experience a day of fun and learning with us.
