Welcome to the third and fourth grade classroom!
Both the traditional and the new are on display in our room. We begin each school day in worship and praise to our Lord. We continue our mornings with our Christ Light Bible study. This focus on our Lord continues throughout the day, as we reflect on His gracious love to us, and as we strive to live our lives in Christian love.
An emphasis on fundamentals highlights a varied curriculum. Our Math classes are enhanced by daily practice of facts and previously taught concepts. In Social Studies, the third graders learn about the world around them, and the fourth graders take an in depth look at our 50 states. Among the topics covered by both the third and fourth graders in their Science classes are plant and animal life, outer space, and the wonders of our human bodies. Other subjects taught in our curriculum include Wisconsin History, Reading, Spelling, English, Penmanship, Art, Creative Writing, Music, and Physical Education. The solid foundation of God’s Word underlies all our studies and actions as children of the Lord.
The third and fourth grade room also implements newer technology. We make frequent use of Calvary’s computer lab. Thanks to our school’s United Streaming video subscription, we are able to use many video presentations to enhance our learning. You will also find an interactive SmartBoard in our room, which also adds to many lessons.
All third and fourth graders also participate in the Accelerated Reader program. The students earn points by successfully completing computer quizzes on the books they read out of class. They can also take part in the Book It! Reading program, where they can receive recognition and prizes by reaching monthly goals.
Indeed, the Lord has richly blessed our school and our classroom. We thank him for his continued guidance as his children grow daily in His Holy Word.
